Documental inglés de principios de los 90's que muestra al mundo lo que las autoridades locales definen como: "El rostro inaceptable de Tailandia". Es decir, los "kathoeys" (travestis, transgénero y transexuales).
Llaman la atención las escenas donde se muestra a uno de los protagonistas en su trabajo como obrero en un taller...mucho muy alejado del glamour de los concurso de belleza gay. Asimismo el background familiar: hogares desintegrados, familias disfuncionales, falta de figura paterna etc etc. La escena del protagonista cocinando junto a su tía-abuela dice mucho aun sin necesidad de traducir nada.

Leí acerca de que en Tailandia y en Laos, a los "niños transgénero", no se los discrimina, sino por el contrario, se los acepta tal cual son. Pueden ir a la escuela, al club, a los centros comerciales y todo lugar que quieran "vestidos como niñas". Las "ladyboys" o "kathoey" están muy bien vistas en la sociedad ¡Lástima que en Argentina ocurre todo lo contrario!

I love the documentary so much and reminds me of the two years I spent in Thailand years ago. There were many Kathoeys in the Kilo 10 area where I was stationed and they were so pretty. Many were forced to work as prostitutes due to economic conditions like many women who lived and worked in the area. I got to know one real well and was my first time with a male in drag, and was hooked.
