Text of reading below:

A original reading & commentary about the American's people inaction in the face of the unjust war in Iraq & the unethical & dangerous policies of our government...

I am starting this channel to begin a dialogue about the state of our nation
and the state of our consciousence. Because something is deeply wrong...I
don't know why exactly American's stand paralyzed while the government institutes
policy that do not represent our beliefs as a people or are vision of the world we
want to live in. But, perhaps, it is because we have lost our vision and our
unity as a people. Perhaps, it is because we have become bitter from the loss
of our own dreams, that we can spare little empathy for the plight of our neighbors
neighbors & spare little thought for the implications of our government's policies around
the globe...

What has become of us?

What has become of us, when as a people, we can allow a President to
justify the slaying of hundreds of thousands of innocent people in Iraq
to cloak our country's actions under the FALSE notion of fighting 'them' over there instead
instead of over here? When did we become a people who would allow murder under
a justification of such cowardice & arrogance? As if war & death & slaugher should be endured by others for our battles, even if
those 'others' had no connection to it, in the first place. British estimates believe over
600,000 Iraqi civilians have been killed in this war. SIX HUNDRED THOUSAND. This nation is so fond of propping
itself under a Christian banner & a righteous God, but ignores the most basic tenet of Thou Shall Not Kill translating it to mean
- thou shall not kill an American.

And, when did supporting our military become silence in the face of tyranny and unjust
war? It was known BEFORE the war that the intelligence used to justify an invasion into Iraq
was dubious at best. Indeed, most Americans were against the invasion of Iraq until it occurred, & then, out
of fear of not 'supporting our troops' rallied around the policy lest we be labeled unpatriotic, forgetting
that patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel. Truly supporting our military would have been
fighting tooth & nail to prevent them from ever having been unnecessarily place in harm's way - &
ever placed in the position of carrying out unjust orders from a President who does not operate in the realm
of reality or truth.

I say this now, for it is long past time that we demand an end to this lunacy. Our Congress is
bending yet again to the whim of the madman we call 'President' who would not even accomodate 'non-binding'
time lines for the removal of troops from Iraq. They fail in their duty in oversight of this administration because
we have failed in our duty as citizens to oversee Congress. How many of us actually know the voting records
and sponsorships of bills of your Senators & Congress Person? Do you even know their names? Have your ever called them?
Ever demanded them to act as representatives of the American people instead of corporate lobbyists and the
military industrial complex? We are often so indignant, so angry at government, forgetting that WE are & MUST
be the government, & democracy can only work with active participation of its citizenry. We resign our fate before we
even begin to fight. Believing we are powerless, we become powerless. And, be it our apathy or righteous indignation against
our government, it has become one & the same. An excuse not to act, not to be responsible, not to participate in changing
things for the better.

And, that must begin with having the courage to seek truth & then speak it, openly, & without fear of the recriminations of those
who would suppress our rights and freedoms.

Killing is not just because we perpetrate it. War does not qualify as just because America implements it. Right now, an atrocity
is occurring in all our names. We all have blood on our hands. We are financing the killing & our silence is complicity and
accomplice to murder. Why do we allow this to continue?

  • If we refuse to act, there can be no change. See Ron Paul videos. He is the only presidental candidate who tells the TRUTH, is willing to uphold our liberties and restore the constitution, and appeals to all real anti-war, anti-big brother patriots along the political spectrum. Don't trust big media. They suppress anyone with a different message. Google Ron Paul. His internet support is ON FIRE.

  • do a little research, it is possible to simultaneously be a republic as well as a democratic government, this is what the US is

  • the united states is undoubtedly a republic, thats not even worth arguing about, its obvious

  • we are not republic and our founders arent, anyone that wants to argue with me about that go ahead. People that say that our founders were christian are liars.

  • The United States is not a democracy. It never was and it never will be! When you hear someone claiming such on television you're being played for a sucker if you believe it.

The United States is a Republic and the government is governed by the Constitution. Anything, more or less, is BS or illegal.

  • "And when did supporting our military come to mean silence in the face of tyranny and unjust war"....... yea..... but if you say this in public they will call you "unpatriotic". I say it takes a REAL patriot to point out what wrongs his nation has committed in an act to make things right. But if being a patriot means being a slave and a robot for the old hags of washington then sorry but I dont want to be one!

  • Wow, well I feel a bit woken up, especially when you said the part about "democracy can only work with active participation of it's citizenry", you are right, I think we all find too often, it's so easy to say, "well, I can't do anything about it"...we should try to learn that our country's strength lays within our person power...very well put...but I do not agree with everything...I say that not to insult you, but just to imply that my post is not a praise, but a response to a great point

  • You were doing ok until you refered to our form of Government as a Democracy. You accused people of not knowing their representatives, then call our form of Government a Democracy. The United States of America is a Republic mam, not a democracy. Other than that, I would give you 5 stars. Thank you.

  • we have always been a people of hate it came with us when we moved to this country. It is the driving principle of most races or religions that there is somthing wrong with the other people that there is nothing wrong with whom they are. when you ask who to blame you need to look no further than the mirror in your bathroom we are all to blame we are all complacent. pray to which ever god you believe in that some how we will muster the curage and strength to pull ourselvees away from the brink!

  • You're pitiful.

  • Kudos and I agree somewhat with klonedklein. However, as the movie says, it could never have come this far without our excuses as the video speaks..

    ONE LOVE.
