Emily wearing a lovely hand-made kimono on new years day. This kimono was made for Emily by her great aunt Kimi-chan and given for Emily to wear while visiting relatives on the first day of the year. Kimono making was once an important and necessary skill for Japanese wives and mothers who purchased kimono fabric by the bolt and crafted kimono to suit the tastes and needs of their family. Emily's great aunt is probably the last member of our family who can still make traditional kimono by hand and Emily's gift will be cherished and worn at every chance throughout the new year.

  • Wow I heard Kimono's are expensive?Looks like quiet Neighborhood? How much would she chare to make one for my cousin?

  • Hi darkworflord, Yes, new kimono can be very expensive. I'm afraid that Kimi-chan is getting on in age and rarely makes kimono anymore. I hope that you can find a good source for a nice kimono for your cousin!

  • No doubt in anyone's mind she'll grow up to be a gorgeous-looking young lady in no time. That is already done. You've already done your "job" so to speak in that respect. Your task now is (and has been) to teach her to be as beautiful inside as a human being. Provide her with loving yet disciplined upbringing and she'll thank you for it much later in life, I guarantee you. I see too many young kids in America being raised with too much emphasis on the superficial "beauty" with no essence.

  • Gand-pa is really cool !

Thanks for the clip, Emi isすごく かわいい in her new kimono!
