Nano-sized particles of silver are terrific at fighting bacteria and mold, and are being used in hospital settings and for food storage. But they're also being incorporated into more casual types of consumer products, like children's toys and clothing. Could this lead to a harmful accumulation of nano silver in our wastewater treatment plants and in our rivers and streams? Sci-Tech Today takes a closer look.

  • Tell me about it. I know someone who CURED his cancer pesonally by doing many healthy things, including drinking Colloidal Silver. he did NOT turn Blue but DID out live the doctors predictions of 2 years.

    Just another scare tactic!

  • I have seen many doctors confirm that Colloidal silver WORKS. Why is there a massive effort by the FDA to spread false info. about how bad the silver products are for you? Because they want you addicted to their drugs. “Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it” Hitler

  • Blue guy made ionic silver not colloidal silver!

  • 30 ppm is not correct

  • @watercleanAG

as the video says, ancients used silver goblets and silver utensils to get rid of

bacteria and plague causing contaminats.. but these goblets and silver utensils only discharge very minute amount of silver and did the job of protecting the people of old time..unlike the current coollidal silver with huge 20-30-50ppm of silver.. remember, minutes, 0.01-0.08ppm is more than enough to kill the modern pathogens that even anti-biotics cant kill..even MRSA.. so use it well!!

  • @watercleanAG

so ingesting silver ions will be a waste of time, but it works great for treating water and external wounds, but particles remain and can accumulate in the body..so you have to know what you really want to use the silver solution for, and ask what the solution contains, and % of particles and ions, Remember, 1ppm is over the top to kills pathogens..so dont drink solutions of 20-30ppm...

e.coli can be killed 100% at 0.5ppm...simple bacteria not more than 0.05ppm

    not 30ppm.

  • @watercleanAG

ionic have great anti-bacterial effect, but only in a solution, and used where there are not chlorides. silver ions react with stomach acid(HCL) and becomes inert and

discharged, while silver particles do not reach with chlorides, and remains in the body, e.g., blood streams and so on..thats why silver colloids sellers talk about

particles and not ions..for them ions are uselss..but particles they claim work and kills pathogens in the body.

  • @upcycle

oh yeah, there are special machines t o check the size of the particles..but not for consumers..you first have to understand there are two types of silver, ionic, and the particles..ions are smaller than a nm, like an atom..and particles are large clusters.

very important to know the difference of these two rather than just simply saying silver...ionic is positively charged, (have better anti-bacterial effect) and particles are not..

  • @agnoses

any chemical in water in large quantities will hurt fauna of the rivers...not only silver..

that's called pollution, and its happening now, even without silver being mentioned..

the biggest pollutant is dishwashing liquied with phosphates in it..they are the cause of the red tide, that kills millions of fish in the lakes and seas...hormones are the same, you are post possibily eating meat from cattle given hormones to make them grow...so, you all have to be pretty learned to know!

  • @watercleanAG

Looking at this video, it is so broad and bordering on scaremongering, it is a shame you sending the wrong message on silver, as silver is no different to many other chemical or metal in the environment, but actually have better uses in the modern lifestyle with the limitation of anti-biotics compared to the other metals in use in the environment..

I bet that 98% of the listeners would not have a clue to the meaning of nano technology what it really is!..

  • @vagabound1010 interesting. And i wonder if there is a way to test for this size. and better yet for consumer to test before using. And perhaps if the size of the nano particles may be an area that can be regulated and may be to the benefit of consumers.
