I went there in june 2010, and people weren't allowed to climb because some guy a couple of years back stole 2 two Jade stones from the eyes of a Juguar statue, supposedly to make his mom earings. And also people used to write graffitti and stuff on the temple walls.

I visited Chichen Itza in January, and still I find Chichen Itza and the quetzal bird call absolutely amazing.

I went there recently and the guide said that apparently they stopped people from climbing the stair case because some people had put graffiti in the top bit and also because about three years ago a German lady slipped on the stair case and died.

I think it was very good, and they're still uncovering new parts and restoring the site, yes you can't climb the main structure but in the years to come it will be more complete. I would have liked to have climbed to the top though :(

i alrady climp the piramid and is not dangerous in fact is very easy. And the hot is not insoportable is just you have to go with the right clothes

its ok i suppose but its a bit boring because you just stand about for ages, and its really hot there so your clothes stick to you
