  • @dofty You are right, in ham low and medium SW bands DX is only outside continents but in CB there is no skywave, only sporadic E skip and ocazional dual skip (other continents) or other ionospheric prenomens so dx means basic outside direct coverage area.

  • @andreic21 Ahh ok. I'm a radio amateur and DX on HF is outside the callers own continent. On VHF++ it's over 300km. Before I was an amateur radio operator, I used 555 only two months or so before i got my licence so I guess I didn't know what freebanders classifies as DX. Thanks for clearing that up! 73 de LA****

  • @dofty correction, ligne of sight I mean from electomagnetic field point of view.

  • @dofty DX means also over the ligne of sight usually via E skip witch could be 1000-4000km mostly. In Tv DX means tropo, f2 or e skip in low bands. When outside UE is required most dx-ers specify this clearly in there call and usually will work SSB in tripple 5 not on FM dx call channel (31 in UE) witch is prone to distorsions at low signals.

  • He's calling the UK from Germany, yet he says DX(Which means "outside my continent"). I guess he doesn't want to talk to someone.
