This recipe kicks the other oyster sauce chicken recipe's ass. Yes, I said it. This was very good.
5 lbs. chicken thighs
1/4 c. flour
Chopped green onion
Seasoned salt
Pepper

Sauce:

1/2 tsp. pepper
1/2 c. oyster sauce
3 Tbsp. sugar
3/4 c. water

Combine sauce ingredients and cook on low heat until dissolved. Season chicken with seasoned salt and pepper, coat in flour, and fry. Pour cool sauce over hot chicken. Garnish with chopped green onion (I added it in to the sauce when it cooled). Enjoy

For those with oyster allergy!!! Thank you to MsFlowerYang who posted the following: Hoisan sauce can be a substituted for oyster sauce. Hoisan sauce is sweeter then oyster sauce so instead of 3 tablespoon of sugar, you can do half sugar and half salt so the sauce wouldn't be so sweet from the Hoisan sauce.

  • I have all the recipes in my kitchen now..will make this ASAP!!!

  • @SuperGiselle999 This is one of the best recipes I made last month

  • Beth....just to say....made this and it was soooo good. The recipe is a keeper...going to post on FB so others can try it out. I put it in the oven (minus the spring onions) for about 1/2 hr. We made up the spice mix with garlic salt, chili powder, paprika, tumeric, garlic powder & pepper. It worked a treat :)

  • @whistonlass I'm glad you were able to modify and enjoy this dish!!

  • I made this tonight and it was so delicious! I used chicken tenders instead of thighs and served it over rice. Good stuff!!

  • @lizzybethmaley NICE! I am going to try it again with breast tenderloins as well. They don't like fussing with the bone and I think it will cook up much faster. I am so glad that you enjoyed it and let me know you did :)

  • Well....we're cooking your recipe tonight :) I've friend up the chicken to your directions and made the sauce....but I'm going to put it in the oven for about half an hour to re-heat it when it's dinner time....we'll have it with rice and veg. We didn't have any seasoned salt so son and I concocted our own magic salt...lol You know, as you do...a bit of this, a bit of that! lol

So we'll see how it turns out....it is in a casserole dish now and smells delicious :)

  • This looks nummy yummy!!!!!

  • Lucky you:)
