I thought it was about time to update my Chrissyos Astrophotography video with my new images. These images were taken between May 2007 and now (when the video was uploaded). It is mostly solar system related stuff. There is in order the Sun, Venus, the International Space Station, the Moon, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. In each section the images are displayed from the newest to the oldest.

There are a number of different equipment combinations Ive used for these images though all were taken with a 10 Newtonian telescope. All of the images were taken using an EQ6 tracking mount except for the ISS images which used a Dobsonian mount. For the images of the Sun a solar filter was used. The greyscale images were taken using a DMK21AU04.AS while the colour images were taken using a Panasonic video camera.

  • im wanting to get into this maybe u could tell me what a basic basic noob starting out would need to get into it. just the bare minimuim. if you could help please?

  • @guitarocist I started out with just a simple dobsonian telescope (mine was a 10 inch scope, but an 8 inch is a pretty normal starting scope as well) and an old video camera my family already owned. You can do some pretty good work with just a pretty stard webcam, or with just a standard digital camera (heck, phone camera's these days might get some alright results). You don't really need much to get started, and you can just add more gear as you go if you find you enjoy it. :)

  • how the hell do ya track the iss?

  • @KevinAndrews99 With lots of luck and practise. :P I follow the ISS through the finderscope while the camera is running in the focuser.

  • Is your dob mount capable of tracking?

Two nights ago I was starwatching with my 10" newtonian (Dob mount) and I spotted the Iss through the spotter scope but there was no way i could get a look through the main veiwfinder as it moves to fast to track manually.

Excellent video thanks for the upload.

  • @jimmywrangles My dob mount is just a regular one, no tracking.

It is possible to track the ISS through the main eyepiece on a 10" dob (I've done it before), you just need a good combination of practise and luck. :)
