I do speak French, and I can tell you it's better to watch a French film with English subtitles without knowing any French because the subtitles are NEVER properly accurate and you spend your whole time correcting them and sometimes it spoils the viewing.

Interesting bio. French girl of modest means seduces a Baron surrounded by the idle rich and gains the connections to realize her gifts which propel her to design fame. Good reflection on aristocratic attitudes towards propriety and love. Too bad she was a suspected Nazi agent during WWII. (Not portrayed in the film. This is hagiography of her early years.) Still worth seeing. Great love story. Great film. And Audrey Tautou is absolutely amazing.
