Well, here I am just wastng time refuting this crazy video called Calve Islam. If you have seen the video, and perhaps some of the other material, I hopoe you would agree that this video need to be refuted and therefore defending the sovereignty of God.

Although, there's alot I can say, I tried to keep each video very short in the series.

Enjoy if you can or....if you WILL!!!

  • I was wondering about a theory I had as I was watching these videos. God says he is the Alpha and Omega, first and last. and the beginning and the end(Rev 22:3) Is it not fair to say that the reason God says he Knew us from the beginning(jeremiah 1:5) is explained by the fact that he is also the end? Since He knows ahead of time what fate we will choose for ourselves, doesn't that alone explain why He says only those who know Him and He knows will be blessed with faith? Thanks again Jay!

  • I understand your question, but the fact of the matter is that we see no where in scripture where God looked into the future and choose people becuz He knew that they would choose Him first. Besides, this would contradict 1 john 4:19

  • whats calvinism?

  • In a ntshell, calvinism is the teaching that God has predestineed some people to go to heaven, and some others for damnation.

  • A Calvinist's view is not one of God being a respecter of people. We believe God's choice is based on 'the good pleasure of His will" (Ephesians 1:5&9), not on anything we have done, as Paul makes clear in Romans 9. If God's choice was based on God knowing ahead what we would do... or having faith... or being humble... then He would have said so in these two chapters. What do they say other than: "So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God, who shows mercy." (Rom.9:16)?

  • Anti-Calvinist drool! LOL! I love it. I'm a Christian, a follower of Christ and firm believer in the inerrancy of the Bible, not necessarily a Calvinist per se (can't say I'm a TULIP follower), but I found the Calve Islam video extremely offensive. Thank you for this excellent response!!

  • calvinisn is a gross interpretation of who God is. Calvinism makes God a respecter of people. read Grace,Faith & Freewill by Robert Picirilli

  • What paradoxes? If Moses was able to influence God then he had sinned by disobeying His command to leave and let God destroy the Israelites. This whole intercession of this man named Moses is but a shadow of our true and only intercessor - the man Christ Jesus. The same with OT sacrifices. Paul plainly states that the blood of bulls could not take away sin, yet they where called a sin offering. All of this can only be understood, in the light of God's eternal decree, as as foreordained types.

  • cubstadon ,If you would, read Acts 13:48 it plainly says that THOSE APPOINTED TO ETERNAL LIFE BELIEVED.Notice it didn't say,ALL WHO BELIEVED WERE APPOINTED TO ETERNAL LIFE.

  • We love God because He first Loved us.If God looked down the barrel of time and chose who he saw that would choose Him,then the scripture would read,I love you because you first loved me.Like you said,God inhabits all time. The word to foreknow doesn't mean to know man's actions,it means LOVE BEFORE HAND.

  • How so?

  • we can agree that the book of life was written at the beginning(Rev 13:8 & 17:8)

In Exodus 32:33 God tells Moses "Him only who has sinned against me I will strike out of my book"

Can this passage not prove that God looked into the future to judge us?

How can ones sins at a latter date effect what was permanently written at the foundation of the world?

He had to have known who would choose Him before He chose us.

Could "strike out" mean "never was" because He knew?

    Thanks again brother

  • The reason I asked is because I only just briefly learned about calvinism and arminianism. Since you have helped me out in the past Jay, I was wondering if you have thought about that question yourself? It can certainly explain some of the scripture passages you referenced according to God pre-choosing us. I just have a hard time picturing my all loving God splitting us down the middle and sending half of us to the lake of fire unless He knew in advance who would CHOOSE to disobey Him. Thanks!
