I don't think it is ridiculous at all. It's very well done - it reinforces the connection between Gamera and children that has been used throughout the Gamera series since the showa era.

I like how in this movie gamera is again the friend of children but if they do make another i would love to see a change in him where he starts to go towards an attitude like the 90's
