  • Their Open Sesame album is definitely a true classic. This happens to be my favorite tune off of this LP. There aren't any groups who put a variety of songs on their projects these days. Kool and the Gang, Earth, Wind,& Fire, and others of that ilk gave us something we could turn a house party out to. They also gave us something we could make love to. And something to just sit back and chill to. Great post!

  • "Open Sesame" out of some favorite albums of mine, is awesome. I've been waiting for this album 2B released on CD. They released aprroximately most of their albums, but maybe not this one. Greatest songs R "L-O-V-E", " Sunshine", and of course "Whisper softly". Released shortly B4 my time. Is Universal Motown planning 2 remaster that one? From album collection 2 CD collection, time 4 some nostalgic memories.

  • I REMEMBER WHEN I FIRST HEARD THIS SONG, MANY, MANY YEARS AGO, STILL LOVE IT.

  • Here is anither song that was just too good but never got any air play. From their "open Sesame" album, "Whisper Softtly" slipped under the radar. It is a shame that great songs like this never got the time on the radio that lesser songs got."Open Sesame" is a great tune. But this song should have gotten airtime. Very easily couls have been one of their greatest hits.

  • @tubiecubie , back then I was smoking weed and drinking brews and still groovin.' With all of the killing that I had seen the year before and then all of the sudden peace. You could go anywhere in Philly and not worry about being shot or stabbed. It was great and I enjoyed it the way I liked to enjoy it. To each his own.

  • Do you here that sound starting at 3:51 of the song, a harp unheard of in any black music, it just goes to show Kool & the Gang's innovation....

  • @nubonyx Newsflash, I was 16 that year & all I needed was the music & the atmosphere, no weed, no beer or any alcohol or drugs, you ever hear of a "natural" high? hmmmmmm.......

  • Fabulous song! What can you say about Kool and the Gang? It can be argued that there were none better through their era....up till JT joined...after that .....they sorta fell in line with the overall musical demise......

  • @dm246484 That was Ronald Bell. The real innovator of these early classics.

  • @dm246484 hello...where is this available? I didn't see it on Itunes..unless it was added extremely recently

  • Is that Robert Kool Bell at the end with the dialog ?If not WHO ?
