  • The best thing to do, especially those of the SDA faith, is to keep your eyes fixed on Jesus. There will be much struggle, Jesus never promised that it was easy, and He said this for our good - don't lose heart. The Lord Himself said, if the world hates you it's because they hated Him first - so don't be discouraged by some of the comments here. I know and am understanding why I am following this faith, and you are too. Silence is powerful =). May God Bless and keep all.

  • The SDA church is Bible based. Period. If you believe the Bible you have no quarrel with Adventists. You say Christians wouldn't call a group of people a whore? That is right out of the Bible.

The Bible is the Word of God and Christ (in the Bible) is called the Word Made Flesh. Christianity means followers of Christ. If you don't believe the Bible how are you a Christian?

  • @Windchild31 thank you for your powerful message..I plan on applying it into my life..pls pray for me as I am renewing my baptismal vow this Sabbath coming..21st May, 11

  • @Bingolly1: "It is the religious cult of the SDA."

In your church (the RCC) all other Christian denominations are cults.

  • I think you may be right about the distinction between prophet and one who has the gift of prophecy. You make a good point about not needing actual prophets now that we have Jesus. After all, weren't they there to proph. the coming of Jesus?

  • But the gift of prophesy is distinct from the office of prophet. Also the gift of prophesy is not manifest in just one person. It can be given to whoever God please to give that gift. The person who has the gift of prophesy is not called a prophet in the OT sense of prophets, where they would be a special messenger of God's judgment etc. Now we all can access God through the Holy Spirit and through the Bible There is no need for a special prophet who has more knowledge about God than anyone else

  • I do think that this passage says that prophets, in the sense of Old Testament prophets, is no longer required. OT prophets were the official mouthpiece of God. God used certain men to be His special spokespersons on earth. When Jesus came the need for special prophets ceased, because God Himself had become flesh and dwelt among us and shown us how to live. Its true that the gift of prophesy is available today....

  • Ok, I just remembered that my Bible was in the box behind me and I read the first 4 chapters of Hebrews. That first verse is the only mention of prophets so far. They were not the point of the book. So I stand by what I said above. Also, it seems that if any job previously held by man is now only the job of Christ it is the office of High Priest. ;)

  • Hi! Are you referring to Ellen G White? Whether she was a prophet or not I couldn't say. As for the verse you quoted, I haven't taken the time to look it up in it's entirety, but it doesn't seem to suggest to me that the office of prophet no longer exists. It says that God used prophets before Jesus, but it doesn't say that he won't use them after Jesus as well.

  • Hi merfleur. What do you say about this verse in Hebrews 1:1,2: "God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds"

Here Hebrews says that in former times (before Jesus) God spoke to his ppl through a prophet, BUT in these last days, He has spoken through His Son. This means that the office of prophet no longer exists.

  • >Chrfistians aren't the ones calling one group a whore and anothet group children of a whore.

Revelation 17:1 And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great ***whore*** that sitteth upon many waters:

See also verses 15 and 16 and chapter 19, verse 2.

  • continued from before.....

If you dislike the SDA church so much why are you even watching this?

Also if, by your reasoning, a Christian wouldn't call a group of people a whore would a Christian call a group of people brainless and a cult?
