Crown Casino Gas Brigades

The first sequence of the "Crown Gas Brigade" fire show for the evening of the 8th of May, 2010, outside the Crown Casino and Entertainment Complex in Melbourne. Viewing from the Spencer Street Bridge at the western end of Yarra Promenade.

Sorry for the somewhat shoddy quality - I'd only just bought the camera that day so I didn't have a tripod and was still learning how to use it. It was shot on a Canon EOS 550D with EF-S 17-85mm IS USM lens. Also I somehow screwed up the background music - it's almost inaudible at the start yet overpowering at the end. Ahwell - I'll get it right next time!

nice, thats a great lens but that lens is a tad dark to use at night, get a 1.8 , or better yet a 1.4 prime lens,

@robblac Yeah, that's very true. I have the 50mm 1.8 but the focusing on it is pretty woeful (particularly for video where smoothness is important), so really want to get a 1.4. Main reason I used the 17-85 for this video was that I'd just bought it and wanted to see what it could do!

I have the Canon 550D as well but I took my fireball video with a crappy digicam... I'll have to take more footage with my DSLR now... looks good :)
