I know what you mean, mate - but in Glenn Gould's case I seriously doubt it was overdoing - he was simply so absorbed in the music that he forgot about the surroundings and everyone else; I don't think you can convincingly fake this kind of passion to the craft :)

But with that said, I do hear you - with most it would go without saying, just not with this guy I don't think :)

What you fail to realize that his antics are not fake emotions, but his immersion into his music, because after all he possesses an ingenuity that you my friend clearly have no perception of

i read that bach himself performed with a lot more hummming than gould. C'mon guys, don't spoil this page with sad remarks. Simply enjoy or drop dead,
