Yes, NYC is quite dead. I use to live on 12th between 1st and A. I am an Artist. Sadly, there is very little 'ART' in nyc. There is a lot of coporate/pop/trendy/OBEY capitalist phoney crap around. However those true who lived the arts were forced out. Quite literally and dismissed and ignored. NYC is just a coporate wasteland. A place for Rich white girls to live. Too bad. But all cities have their time. Nyc's time is over. Art in nyc is just another corp logo. Made only for the elite.

Gentrification ruined Manhattan ....I believe NYC has to go through a dark period again like it did 15 years ago before it can become better again. Its going to get expensive no one will want to live here at all .,..no thanks to bloomie and giuliani its one thing cleaning up crime its another thing to make the city completly boring and uninhabitable by anyone who isnt rich ....take your starbucks and shove it where the sun dont shine ..I want my Manhattan back ....

I agree but the problem is that this younger generation doesn't stand up for shit.....the boomers were the last to stand for something Xers do a little bit and Y's are worse. People should start burning down all the expensive lofts being built and bully the yuppy bastards out of Manhattan...
