  • @Shinji91 it was at this time but theres lots of crosstraining in bjj since the mid 90s.Pure catch wasnt up to bjj on the ground

  • @kaindrg I would point out that it was considered to be absolutely necessary for Shooto fighters to integrate BJJ into their curriculum after increasingly poor performances against international competition.

    MMA is very different from when Yori Nakamura was first teaching SHOOTO. Namely, there IS MMA.

  • @Dynaman21 bjj is boring its over done. we need to see more catch more shoot wrestling more of the classics

  • It wasn't till the late 90's that Shooto integrated BJJ into their curriculums. Nakamura is a product of the pre-Vale Tudo days, before Yuki Nakai took up BJJ.

  • @kaindrg Yes. From what I've read, the groundwork present in shooto is comprised primarily of catch techniques.
