@kaindrg I would point out that it was considered to be absolutely necessary for Shooto fighters to integrate BJJ into their curriculum after increasingly poor performances against international competition.
MMA is very different from when Yori Nakamura was first teaching SHOOTO. Namely, there IS MMA.

It wasn't till the late 90's that Shooto integrated BJJ into their curriculums. Nakamura is a product of the pre-Vale Tudo days, before Yuki Nakai took up BJJ.

@kaindrg Yes. From what I've read, the groundwork present in shooto is comprised primarily of catch techniques.
