GPlayer is an application developed by Telefónica for smartphones within the XtreemOS-MD context. This mobile application is a mediaplayer that uses the GRID capabilities provided by XtreemOS to transcode any video to a more suitable format and/or size.

  • @razaccour It's a grid operating system. Basically it lets a bunch of people use a bunch of computers similarly as if it were a single, very powerful computer. In other words, it's a completely different beast than Ubuntu and if you are just looking to replace Windows 7 on your own computer then XtreemOS is certainly NOT what you are looking for.

  • @razaccour, because Ubuntu can't do what XtreemOS can (which is shown in this and other XtreemOS videos). If you mean why XtreemOS is based on Mandriva and not on Ubuntu, the answer is because a subsidiary of Mandriva was one of the partners that developed XtreemOS. Besides, there are (or will be very soon) CentOS-based and Debian-based versions of XtreemOS. And yes, it is customizable.
