it's about the death of JDB's mother. JDB wrote it because cranberry juice (Ocean Spray) can help prevent certain cancers, which is how James' mum died. Nicky didn't write this one.

this is the only Manics song JDB wrote the lyrics before. It wasnt to be released, but then Nicky heard James playing it and convinced him to release it.

Every time JDB sings this this you can see the pain in his face. His mother thought cranberry juice would do her good hence the title Ocean Spray. Very moving
