This is Skittles. She was supposed to be lunch for one of the animal kingdom's err, other worthy residents (who must not be blamed for doing what he does naturally). She was inexplicably refused as an entree. After being put into a holding tank to try again the next day, she promptly had three rittens. :)
The owner was understandably amazed, touched, and a little disturbed by this, and couldn't bear to feed her, OR her rittens at this point to the err, other critter, so he advertised for someone to come get her and give her a home.
I applaud him for this, as I recently lost 5 due to old age and other ailments, and these little kiddos more than make up for it.
In this clip, she's wondering what this weird thing in her cage is, and why it's watching her. :)
Adorable! And the owner of the other critter deserves serious kudos for doing the right thing by the new mama rat. :D

I totally agree. :) He had really good instincts in this, and a warm heart. I think it's harder to feed, at least in this particular case, when you see them born, and see mama taking care of them. They're BIG bouncy boys today, just shy of 5 weeks, and just a joy.
