The main highlight of the Opening Ceremony of the XIV Panamerican Games, held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic between Agust 1 - 17, 2003.
The opening ceremony took place at Félix Sánchez Olympic Stadium.
The flame was lit by a young beisbolist who received the flame from Juan Marichal, former mayor leage Baseball pitcher. The boy hit the ball and it lits the cauldron.

  • If you compare this ceremony and Winnipeg 1999 with Rio 2007 those ones looks like a birthday party.

  • En realidad los 411 no son "las yardas necesarias para lograr un Home Run", sino la distancia (en pies, no en yardas) del Center Field en el mítico Estadio Quisqueya en Santo Domingo.
