Bipartisan Currency Reform Bill Makes It Clear That China Must Play by the Rules of Fair Trade

Speaker Pelosi spoke on the House floor this evening in support of H.R. 2378, the Currency Reform for Fair Trade Act, which is a key part of Democrats' "Make It In America" initiative to increase American manufacturing and create new American jobs. The legislation passed the House by an overwhelming vote of 348 to 79.

Anyone who is pro US business should support her on this. This would essentially neutralize the market distortion caused by China's artificially low currency, and would allow US companies to be more competitive. Although it would come with diplomatic tensions, it could really help out the economy and create jobs.

Anyone wanting to write this off as a "big government" move clearly doesn't understand the nuances of the issue, and is simply reading off of a tea party talking point.
