Soprano Spinto IS a Soprano dramatico..so you know! At the time there was no such classification. Nedda has a high tessitura. It's perfect for voices like Scotto , Stratas and Cotrubas. Just imagine the disaster hearing Nedda by Dimitrova, Eva Marton or Guleghina!. Nedda is for a lyric, not like Te Kanawa or Netrbko of course!

Renee is a wonderful singer...but I don't believe that she has ever sung Nedda in a full production. Too heavily dramatic for her lovely, sweet and lyric voice.

You are right. This aria is not representative of Nedda's role...similar to Vissi d'arte not really showing what Tosca must have in her vocal arsenal to sing that role.
