Enjoy the tale of Asmel Oceanworked - The Sock Mayor.

The drawings and the story are by Imaginary Thomas: http://www.imaginarythomas.com

On a side note, I'm interested in doing more videos like this. If you are artistically inclined and have a short pithy tale of Dwarf Fortress or Minecraft, let me know. :)

  • Every time I see a dwarf mandate something, I always imagine the starcraft characters mandating the creation of more pylons.

  • A tale of inspiration for us all. Truly, Asmel was a dwarven hero. In memory of his accomplishments, I hereby move that no dwarf shall ever give in to the greedy, sock-coveting elf-kind! BURN THEM! BURN ALL OF THEM! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!

  • @JuryDutySummons Yesyesyesyesyesyesyes I love videos like this. <3

  • What happens, when dwarf get his socks...

  • ....Well then.

  • my legendary battle ended with me chopping up a bunch of morons and then being one-shotted by a bleeding, one handed man's whip

  • Well, dwarves do like their socks...

  • Oh my god make more of these. Make one where you describe an epic last battle of a legendary dwarven fighter fighting against a goblin siege. It could potentially be harder to explain the situation than it is something like this, but it would be pretty rad if you had the correct background music and spoke in a manner that bards used to tell tales of heroes.

  • @JuryDutySummons Sure. I had an aboveground fort called Tradedaubed, filled with skyscrapers. One day, the parents of a baby fell victim to a goblin ambush. The baby became depressed and crawled to the top of one of my skyscrapers. And jumped down in an act of suicide. I only found his body when a second baby did the same thing, they had fallen on top of my prison with no stairs leading up there so my dwarves couldn't get them down. I call this story "The baby suicides of Tradedaubed"

  • Respond to this video... Also, this was cute and made my morning :)

Well, I have a tale about a wrestler from an old 40d fort. He got injured and was throwing tantrums from bed because of the loss of a friend. One day, a kitten joined him on the bed...and a few minutes later, I got a message about the kitty adopting my wrestler. It was the first of many, and over my fort's years, several--including the first kitten--died of old age. Eventually, my wrestler died in battle, but his fortress cats lived on, eventually dying of old age.
