Theres always more to the story than looking at it from a 2D perspective
I'm not saying you shouldn't defend Hey Hey it's Saturday, I'm saying you should be a little open minded in your defense, and be careful not to make yourself look offensive.
I loved Hey Hey it's Saturday despite this, and I really hope this drama doesn't hurt its chances of getting renewed.
If you really want to see me defend the show go over to my other channel TheDuckClock as I rip into Fox News for misreporting the Skit trying to make the show itself look bad.

your right. It is very racist, but we have to understand they obviously didn't put a lot of thought into it, but as you said we (australians) haven't been part of that culture; so we truly don't understand the origin or blackface or the hardship african-americans have gone through, I don't approve of it, but I think we need to leave them alone.

Im a British subject living in Australia and I personally believe that Aussies dont like being told they are wrong, especially by someone non Australian, for example, me and some Aussie mates could be having a laugh and one could make a bad taste joke in which another mate could point it out, and nothing more would be said, however if I were to point it out what with my English accent, ill likley to be told 'go back home you whinging POM' as I have in the past.This is whats happend here I think

well hun, the skit was Offensive to *Black Americans* ! I wanna explain why but its gonna take a long time so just google *Jim Crow laws* then you'll understand why we are so offended by it. I'm not saying in NO way that they should be sued or anything. and this kinda thing is not easly forgotten. But hopefully every thing will be fine...tnx for making this video...

@earthlyme
I knew of that moment in American History and what it was about but I was unaware there was a law and name for it, thanks for that info.

I'd hate to live in a world where comedy was all politically correct, there would be no family guy, simpsons, curb your enthusiasm, little britain, monty python - to name a few, the list goes on and on...
Freedom of expression Dave!!

well in the interest fo full disclosure I will admit there are some PC issues that shouldn't be PC, you may remember the Hungry Beast vid I did last week.
I'm not really debating the sketch, but rather the people who try to defend it with blatant racist remarks that they don't even realize which is somewhat embarrassing as an Australian.
Cheers Steve

Well said Dave.
I think one of the reasons this is such a 'big issue' in Australia is because some media outlets have called Australia racist (and what country isn't to some extent?). This tends to stir up some national pride and negate some critical thinking about said incident and Australia's past that lead some to make them.

yeah I have noticed that, in fact if you go to my other channel TheDuckClock you can see how I showed Fox News the fact that they withheld information and failed to do any research to escalate the issue.
I knew from when I saw that skit on TV that it was going to be all over the news the next day, the media sure loves their drama
