This is a scene cut from the very end of Dishonor, the 2nd episode of Pirates of Dark Water. I'd always thought the ending of the episode was rather abrupt, and then I stumbled across this new clip a few years ago.

This clip is ripped from the Japanese-language version of episode 2. The cut scene actually begins at 0:30, but I included part of the previous scene for context.

Eventually I will upload the English-language version. I subtitled it with the original English dialogue, though the Japanese dialogue is almost a direct translation from the English anyway (but there are some minor differences).

  • Why would you go out of your way for a Japanese version of a show originally only released in English? I'm sorry, but between that, the fact that this was an original uncut scene also means you've lied about your portrayal of what this is... I cant really give you any positive feedback. But, props for some PoDW clips that are basically useless and harder to get than the regular English version.

  • @royalexile927 I think you're overreacting a little...I released this clip in Japanese only because my English copy's audio encoding is weird and won't rip easily. And it's great that you were able to see this clip in the past, but from my experience, the vast majority of people who have seen this show have not seen it. Different TV stations edited the show in different ways: Cartoon Network and Boomerang never aired this scene, and CN was the one channel to air this show for many years.

  • *the vast majority of people who have seen this show have not seen _this scene,_ I mean. (Others haven't even seen all 21 episodes because some stations only aired episodes 1-5 and others aired episodes 1-13.) Accusing me of lying is kind of harsh. :P

  • NOT A DELETED SCENE

I have the full english version of this episode on tape. This scene in particular.

  • @mastmedia That's great that you do have this scene on tape. :) But few fans have actually seen it because different channels edited the show differently, and Cartoon Network (which aired the show for many years) edited it out. That isn't to say that nobody's seen it, but not very many had, prior to the DVD release last August, which does include it.

  • "I will also be putting up the original English-language copy, now that I've found my original Dark Water YTV-recorded VHS tape!"

    But when?

  • @Bigfurtz Sorry...I'm running into issues with the audio encoding. And now that the show's out on DVD, I technically can't put whole episodes up online (WB's lawyers are on the prowl and already contacted me about some PoDW torrent links on my website). I will try to at least get clips up someplace, though.

  • I love Ren's voice!

  • @andorus Is this included on the Warner Archive DVD-R release of the show?

  • Hmm, I don't remember this scene. Good show. Loved it.

  • One of the few times I feel the english voice acting is superior to the japanese. Then again, it's english dub original, and back then, Pirates of Dark Water had an amazing voice actor cast and compelling dialouge. ChungoLungo, I can't find episode 19, Sister of the Sword! Can you help me find that jitatin episode, it's more elusive then a dartha eel.

  • This is the only version of the episode I've ever seen.. I wonder if I still have the first 6 episodes on vhs..

  • What on earth was the point of editing this? The slapping? That was only 3 seconds long. They could have left the rest in. Maybe it was just edited out at some point and that's the copy that some stations got and didn't notice.

  • Who are japanese voice actors for Ren and Tula?
