This 10 minute video shows that the northbound morning rush-hour traffic count on Westwood Blvd at the Exposition right-of-way crossing is 1,078 vehicles per lane per hour.* After 17.5% projection for year 2020, the traffic count is 1,267 vehicles per lane per hour. Metro 2003 grade-crossing policy for light-rail indicates grade separation if the number is more than approximately 1,200. Therefore, under this policy Westbood Blvd qualifies for grade separation. The traffic count on Overland Ave is higher, also requiring grade separation.
Video date and time: July 18, 2007, 8:45 - 8:55 AM.
*The average was measured during a 30 minute time interval between 8:37 - 9:07 AM.
