  • wish they never closed it down almost killed the surrounding towns but owell not like the goverment thinks of those things .....miss all the friends i used to have in skyway middle school back in the day....

  • @moowin I live in an area that used to depend on two AFB's, and is within an hours drive of several USMC and USN bases, and I supported the closing of unnecessary old bases. US towns and cities shouldn't be supported by a base, its a bad form of welfare in my opinion. "Most" bases in the US were long past their usefulness, old WWII-era bases especially. It IS sad when a town has hard times, but spending trillions on the military just so they can run non-military aide is a bad idea.

  • I guess I love to make myself cry! This brings back so many memories when my Dad was stationed there. Never thought I would say this but I am so glad that this place helped me be who I am today. Mom has passed now and my brother doesn't live close by. Dad and I spend our once a week dinners a lot of times recalling our time at Loring and all that snow! It still lives in my heart forever.~ Elizabeth Cusick (Loring resident from 77,78,79)

  • This is a very good video to remember when life was so simple.

  • Wow,well done.I was stationed there in the late 70's.

  • Was stationed there during my first enlistment 1987-1993, served as a crew chief on the mighty B-52G,,, went to war with my bomber (57-6488 - Shady Lady) I miss her so much, she was a great machine! I shed a tear as she went "wheels up" on her way to Davis Monthan after we returned from Diego Garcia, she has since had her wings clipped and is now being cut up for scrap... Sad to see her go...

  • @tchdwnuga lol i grew up in those houses...google maps it and look at the satelite picture.. they leveled everything.

  • @smthlymn what years were you there and how old were you.

  • I lived there roughly 13 years with my parents. Left a lot of friends behind on base and at the junior high. Strange to see the way it is now compared to the way I remember it. All the walks we took to the store with my mom, and the bike rides to the pool with my best friend.

  • Thanks for memories. Tanker crew chief, stationed at Loring, 67 until 71. Lots of good times, and miss Loring. Don't miss the flightline in the winter. It is so sad that Loring has been closed. Great place to live, (if you like the cold). Thank you for the video..brings back time.

  • Thanks for the memories. Stationed at Loring 67 until 71. Never will forget the winters on the flightline. Kind of sad to see it closed. Lots of good people there.

I have to say, I miss being there, NOT the winters, but, just being at Loring.

  • I remember it well
