Blondism isn't restricted to Caucasians. Initially, there was a theory that the Hmong had Caucasian ancestry due to blondism in children (Melanesian and Australian native blondism occurs in children as well) and occasional blue eyes, until DNA tests proved otherwise. It should be noted that like the Hmong, Australian natives and many Melanesians lived in geographic and relatively genetic isolation for a long time. That may have something to with it. Just a guess.

@NeutralSincere European explores found it forbidding to throughly explore on what they called present day Melanesia as the dark islands, instead they relied mostly on their Polynesian neighbours to help them...since polynesians were discovered earlier than it's negbouring people...but to my knowledge definatley we have no European admixtures...Some of my family memebers have blond hair, and i know for sure we have no European ancestory...

@NeutralSincere ok back in those days we Melanesians were cannibals, headhunters, and fierce warriors, if you read our history am sure you would come across cannibalism in the South Pacific, much of of the early explores had little or almost no contact among the islands in fear of their lives, they actually killed and ate some early explorers and missionaires...so I would definatey rule out the possiblity that we got this trait from Europeans...
What evidence do you have that supports the proposition that this is an indigenous trait and not an inherited trait from European sailors?

@MrSamBowers Unfortunately, what credible information I did find about Melanesia did not discuss hair color (frustrating considering that their atypical hair color is their most striking feature). If you just type "Melanesia Blonde Hair" in Google the first link is interesting but of course books and academic journals would be preferred to Google searches. Also, why would I need evidence to support whether or not their hair comes from European sailors?

@NeutralSincere Evidence to support that it doesn't come from a European/Caucasian contribution. If we are all descended from the people that migrated out of Africa 100,000 - years ago then blonde hair, red hair & Brunette/Brown hair had to come from those people, too. It would be interesting to verify that it's not an exclusive Caucasian trait. The same goes for eye color.

@MrSamBowers Oh, I see what you're saying. Well, if I run across any information or if anyone reading this comment runs across information regarding the genetics of Melanesian people then post a comment on this video.
