The arrest of Linda Gibbons August 4 2011

This was the first time that Linda protested at the well protected Morgentaler abortion center at 727 Hillsdale Ave in Toronto. The unmarked facility is accessed through a very plain side door on the Hillsdale side of a 3 story office building at Bayview and Hillsdale. The officers who initially responded to the abortion center staff complaint about Linda's presence were obviously not well aware of the particulars of the injunction and waited for instructions from their superiors and the Ontario sheriff. There was no apparent hostility at all from these officers towards Linda as has often happened during her arrests at the Scott abortuary. The sheriff, who knew Linda from previous arrests read her the lengthy injunction as required and then ordered the officers to arrest Linda and take her into custody. This arrest was likely the most respectful arrest that Linda has ever experienced with the officers giving her every opportunity to leave the area and taking considerable time to explain her rights. Perhaps the presence of a CBC television camera and this reporter as well as the significant publicity Linda has received recently in the National Post and other media played an additional role in the treatment she received compared to many past arrests.

May God richly reward Linda Gibbons, though the world rejects her. Our Lord has said, "When you have done it unto the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto me." Linda is certainly a servant of Canada's "least," namely the unborn child.

Exactly how many debased pro-abort policemen does it take to arrest one peaceful anti-abortion protester in Canada?!

There's a kind of moral arithmetic at work here. Each officer's confidence in the legitimacy of this arrest is so weak that it has to be aggregated with that of his fellow officers before any effective action can be taken.
