The Tibet Autonomous Region's Party secretary
Zhang Qingli claimed that before communist rule,
the Tibetan people were oppressed serfs and
people are living a happy life in Tibet today.
Is this the reality? Let's take a look.

U.S.-based political commentator Chen Po Kong
has been studying historical records about Tibet
and visited Tibetans that lived in Tibet before 1959.
He confirmed that only the communist party alleges
Tibet to have had a serfdom in the past.

Chairman of Dalai Lama Religious Foundation,
Dawa Tsering said the so-called "old Tibet" was
created by Communists (CCP) for their political needs.

Dawa Tsering: In its history, Tibet never had
people starved to death or peasant uprisings.
All Tibetan uprisings broke out under the CCP's rule.
Besides CCP, nobody believes Tibet had serfdom.
Tibet had a kind of feudal system, as the land was
government-owned. This was the origin of its system.

As per Chen's research, in the wartime China,
the Tibetan government pursued a "neutral policy"
and was not involved in WWII or other wars.
People lived a peaceful life. Tibetan farmers only
paid 2% to 4% of their income to landowners.
With disasters, their payments could be exempted.

Dawa Tsering believes, after CCP came to power,
Tibetans have lost a lot of their original rights.

Dawa Tsering: Tibetans don't have religious freedom.
All their religious activities must be approved by CCP.
Without CCP's approval, all activities are illegal.
Also, they don't have the right to learn their language.
They have to learn Chinese and cannot learn Tibetan.

The CCP authorities have a similar rhetoric:
"In the old society, people lived in dire straits;
people stood up to be masters of the new society."

Ex-editor of Thailand's Chinese paper World News,
Zhang Jiazhen said that this is CCP's propaganda.

Zhang: CCP produced a movie - White-Haired Girl.
It said that the old society turned people into demons
and CCP's new society turned demons back to human.
On the contrary, after the CCP came to power,
millions of people have been turned into ghosts.
All Chinese people are aware of this deceitful trick.
The CCP has all the propaganda tools.
The people have freedom or the right to have info.

Zhang said, around the time of Cultural Revolution,
CCP lied daily that the U.S. and Taiwanese people
were living in misery. Currently, only CCP's elites
not the Chinese people, live a happy life in China,

Zhang: China is a giant prison, a huge tomb.
How many people are imprisoned illegally?
Is Taiwan in a dire strait? No, the opposite is true.

Zhang noted that the Chinese people have to resist
the CCP's rule, like the people in the Middle East.
Otherwise, they will never live a happy life.
