There is a meme/ screen cap that shows that Holly says "Thanks" after Paul says "I love you." I KNEW that was wrong, and had to look it up here to be sure. lol- thanks to the uploader of this video!

It's not that hard to get, people. She is treating him like all the rats and superrats she knows, so he's treating her like they treat her. Like an escort. Which is kind of what she was, but the movie wasn't too obvious about it.

Me too! I knew it couldn't have been right because I've watched this film so many times! Thank God, or else I would have needed to watch it again!

Man, I loved this film growing up. And I still love it... but the one caveat I have is the racist anti-Asian shit they pulled with the yellowface. It's such a shame, because this is a classic film.

I hope everyone realizes that Paul himself is a kept man. That he is doing basically the same thing as Holly. In the film that is, not the novella which is quite different in many regards from the film.

The powder room, i did´t understan and i search, i found this "It is basically a euphemism. It was not polite to just ask someone for money, so she would get $50 to tip the powder room attendant, but then keep most of the money herself. I think she really lived off of her "powder room" money. That was a good question. She was NOT a hooker. She was more of a paid escort. But, saying "$50 for the powder room" was a nicer way of paying her and not just saying, "Hey, I'll pay you to go out with me"

Earlier in the movie Holly sort of brags about the fact that a lot of the guys that take her out on dates are so rich that they give her $50 whenever she excuses herself to go to the ladies room. These men mean nothing to her, while obviously she means a great deal more to them. Paul, by giving her "$50 dollars for the powder room," spitefully lets Holly know that attitude is not only cruel, but is also demeaning enough to trivialize any potentially meaningful relationship.
