The video collab is now past, thanks to all who sent in clips!

To see more of my guitar collection, and hear about my GAS problem (that's Guitar Acquisition Syndrome), see this vlog:

Ouch! Hearing this back after YouTube compression, I'm not happy with the way the guitar distorts. I'll need to experiment a bit to get the volume just right.

  • In my humble opinion, though companies come close, the precise acoustic sound of a guitar or piano has yet to be duplicated. Your 12 string sounds good, Ken Yamaha makes good stuff.

  • Thanks - Absolutely: why use software to emulate something when the real thing is available?

  • I love your guitar. It certainly is gorgeous and you do it justice.

  • Thanks - Musical interludes in the works...

  • Thanks Ken - all of my Yammies were

made in Taiwan. No shame in that.

They don't have the reputation of the MIJ's,

but are great value. By the way it is very safe

to recommend new FG -730s to people looking for

a nice all around acoustic in that price range.

  • My old Yamaha is an FG-210-1 - Made in Taiwan.

  • Those MIJ SG copies circa 1980 have really gotten a big reputation, and with good reason.

If ya don't mind me askin - what model number is your old

12 string? I've got a Yammie LL-5-12 that rocks, but just

    sounds tinny when mic-ed.

  • Thanks - I've got a few ideas for things to work on ;^)

  • Nice axe! Nothing else sounds quite like a twelve string... I can't wait to hear what you will record when it's plugged in!

  • Yes, this is my 3rd Yamaha, and my 2nd Yamaha 12-string acoustic! #1 was an SG-type electric that I sold years ago (wish I hadn't), #2 was acoustic only, and has seen better days - I'll be offering that to my nephews to fight over now ;^)
