Warcraft Lore: Illidan's Corruption

This is from Blizzard's game Warcraft III and edited by this humble seeker of lore.

Now the story:

Circa 20 years after the orc invasion, the Burning Legion is using the Scourge to mount an all-out attack on the forests of Kalimdor, aiming to sap the life out of the World Tree.

Desperate and with few choices, the Night Elf Sentinels seek to wake the slumbering druids to aid them in their plight...but what they find in the depths of the barrows under the World Tree will change the course of their history forever....

I think it was a very heroic deed of illidan to sacrifice his own soul for a forest.

Why was he discarded by his brother like that. His brother is a real douche if you ask me.

@Valic7690 Illidan didnt sacrafice his soul to save the forests. He could have just destroyed the artifact and save the day again, but he wanted to power for himself. Cant you read?

As I see it, Illidan is being freed, rescue to forest and attains power, he becomes a demon but is still in full control of himself,and then gets banished for helping the night elves?...

Seems fair?

One problem I have with this video: it shows Illidan absorbing the skull, but not using its power to kill the demon in charge of the undead.

It makes it seem like he absorbed it out of pure power hunger, but in fact he needed it to fight the dread lord Tichondrius.
