I played this piece, Gordon Stout's Etude No. 12, my senior year at The Woodlands High School for auditions into the Oklahoma University School of Music.

  • PS: VERY well played, especially for the HS level. You're probably almost finished with college now, but this is great for the hs level. When I was this age I thought I was doing something by playing a scale or two.

  • "Were there some chromatic runs?" Just like saying, "Hey I just heard of this thing called a blizzard. Is there snow involved?" Just a little humor. To answer your question: Yes. There were chromatic runs....a LOT of chromatic runs. :-)

  • Never heard this piece taken this slowly. To each his own I suppose.
