Born in Moscow, graduated from Moscow Conservatory in 1995 as pianist and music historian. During that time also was studying vocal in the Moscow Institute of Theatre Arts on Taganka . Then she became a teacher of jazz vocal there. Since 2002 Ekaterina Chernousova has been a solo performer of the Russian President Orchestra, which works with such renowned artists as Iosif Kobzon, Luciano Pavarotti, Igor Butman, and others. Before that she combined work as a reporter for Nedelya (Izvestiyas weekly supplement) and concertmaster of The Kremlin Ballet Theater. Also she is a soloist of Presidential Orchestra of Russian Federation (since 2002.) Before that, Ekaterina has worked as a pianist in Kremlin ballet theatre. Since 1997, she studied jazz with well-known Russian pianist Daniel Kramer and performed in Moscow Conservatory, Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, at several jazz festivals in Moscow and other cities of Russia. Ekaterina performs in Moscow and other Russian cities with the ensemble named Komnati (Rooms) which she created in 2001 and has been directing since then.
In December of 2004 Rooms got the first prize in vocal nomination (Ekaterina Chernousova) at the International Festival in Kazan City (Tatarstan). In 2005 the ensemble performed in Smolensk, Yaroslavl, Voronezh, Tula, and other cities of Russia and Finland. This year she also took part in the recording of CD with ethno- jazz musicians Bob Amaker (USA) and M.Madson (Germany).
Then she participated in ethno-jazz music jazz festivals in Russia and Finland as a pianist and vocalist. Now she continues performing in jazz clubs in Russia and participates in concerts with many famous Russian musicians, like Slava Gorsky, Oleg Kireyev, Anatoly Gerasimov and others. In December 2005, Ekaterina participated in Jazz voices festival in Moscow and Tver. In December of 2006 she was awarded the third prize (nomination vocals) at the International Golden Hanukiya Festival for the song Im Telech.
In February, 2006, she visited the U.S. through the Open World Leadership Program. The group of seven young Russian jazz musicians, including Chernousova, performed at Seattle's best jazz club, Dimitrious Jazz Alley, and then at the biggest jazz festival in U.S. Northwest - Lionel Hampton International Jazz Festival (Moscow, Idaho). Russian musicians worked with students and teachers of Music College at University of Idaho the Lionel Hampton Music School, gave 4 master classes during festival and performed closing 2d day of festival in front of six thousand people at the Kibbie Dome/

At present, Ekaterina Chernousova recorded 2 program - called Feeling Russia and Russian Round Dances in Jazz Rhythm
. This programs were performed by Rooms. The soundtracks blend Russian tunes and modern funk and down-bit rhythms. One of the compositions was successfully performed at Etnosphera - Russian Music Festival held by the composer S. Filatov.
At the same time vocal jazz concerts were held in Moscow (jazz clubs, Glinka Museum of Musical Culture) and other Russian cities Yaroslavl, Saratov( with Alexander Vinitsky), Obninsk. In June 2006, Ekaterina had a successful vocal concert (together with Anton Bukanov, piano) in Bombay (India). In December 2006, Ekaterina took part as a pianist at the International Childrens Church Music Festival in Helsinki (Finland) hosted by Hartvall-Аrena, the largest concert hall of Finland. 14,000 attended the Festival.
Last November, Rooms performed at the Jazz Eurasia 2007 Festival in Orenburg with its Oriental program Im Telech. And in December 2007, Ekaterina Chernousova participated as a vocalist in the New Year Concert of Yaroslavl Jazz Band.
