I agree that it's insane that Apple didn't include this functionality in the iPhone, but this is a nice workaround. Thanks very much for it. BTW, maybe it's because I'm using iTunes on a Mac, but I cannot copy the text in the show description box. However, if I just select "copy" on the entire podcast it selects the same information which I can paste into lyrics.

This isn't a solution. I cant even fathom why apple would leave this out.
Show notes are not lyrics...
I listen to dozens of podcasts while at work, and i have no time to copy all the notes into the lyrics section as a work around.
this is in no way an attack at you, just my frustration with apple.
I love my iPhone, but miss my old 4G B/W Click wheel when it comes to music.

I agree, but it's definitely a good work around. You could do it the night before, or when you get some free time. It only takes 5 minutes. Or you could ask whoever's podcast it is to put show notes into the lyrics for your iphone.
