This is one of the very first Motorola AM FM radios from 1946. I found this radio at a flea market a few years back. It was in bad condition, very dirty, and the chassis was falling out of the cabinet. All of the parts were there. The guy selling it seemed irritated at not selling much. He practically ordered me to give him two dollars and take it home, so I did. After it was cleaned up inside and out it wasn't as bad as I thought. The cabinet was actually in good condition. . It needed a new filter capacitor, power cord, and a missing tube. It plays very well on AM, and fairly well on FM, considering the FM was in it's early stages and not perfected. FM was not popular in 1946. Fm was introduced in the 1930's. History of FM radio http://www.cybercollege.com/frtv/frtv020.htm

  • sounds really good! would love to have that model,

  • Great job in bringing this radio back, what a prize it is now. Beautiful !!!

  • Rap music on a vintage radio lol.... sounds good for it size.

I am less than a Quarter of its age.

  • That radio sounds awesome! In those days AM was a lot more common than FM so I guess that's why it got the "front" side of the dial! I like the two-sided tuning dial.

  • Nice radio id get one of these and put it on my computer desk

  • Thanx a rare, beautiful, nice sounding radio. I'm really diggin the styling of it too. Hope to run across one someday.
