"I'm quite sure that the concept of a Government-run reservation... seems to be what the socialists are working for now — to have everyone cared for from cradle to grave.... But you can't whine and bellyache 'cause somebody else got a break and you didn't, like those Indians are. We'll all be on a reservation soon if the socialists keep subsidizing groups like them with our tax money."- John Wayne

For those of you who don't know much about John Wayne he was rejected for military service and was born in 1906. He did the next best thing and that was to support the troops. He was 35-36 when Pearl Harbor happened and deemed unfit for military service.

I think I have seen most if not all of John Wayne's movies. including the old B movies in the almost 70 years of my life, and I have to agree with you in one thing. I never saw a John Wayne movie where he played anybody but John Wayne. But, I guess that is what I went to the movies for. It said John Wayne and I had to go see it.

"Let them quit these gospels of envy, hate, and malice. Let them abandon the utter fallacy, the grotesque, erroneous, fatal blunder of believing that by limiting the enterprise of man, by riveting the shackles of a false equality...they will increase the well-being of the world." -Sir Winston Churchill

Did you even read my comment? I said he was amazing at what he did , i.e. playing one type of role in westerns. I never said he was a great actor. Also, I don't really give a damn about academy awards. I've seen too many piss poor movies and actors get showered with cinematic awards. I am sure John Wayne, like every other actor to exist, starred in several bad movies, but there's a lot of his films that are absolute masterpieces.

John Wayne never won an academy award for acting, he got one for lifetime. He was a character actor, he played himself. He was a B movie success. Just like Reagan. Jack Ass movies are also quite successful. Horror movies make tons of money. But they do not win cinematic awards, no Cannes, no Oscars,

Just watch Wayne act in his role as genghis khan, you will walk out in the first five minutes.

Surely they would have filmed John Wayne, after all he was the Brad Pitt, Russel Crowe of this time. Actors, boxers, baseball players all joined. Most of them did not go to the front. Joe Luis did shows to boost morale, Ronald Reagan did movies to educate GI's. John Wayne would have gone and done USO shows, or followed Reagan into making GI educational movies. They would never send them anywhere near the front because of the risk of capture or death. That would have been an Axis propaganda vic

That may be true but don't forget to add that he was amazing at what he did. His movies weren't successful by accident. Most (if not all) top celebrities are narcissistic douchebags. That just comes with the territory.
