Additional Methods
------------------------
Loofah65 has another way to set up the time/date stamp for the newer models.

"After some trouble-shooting, I discovered that for the particular model I have, the date and time format is as follows: yyyy.mm.dd hh:mm:ss EX: (2010.05.17 22:55:07) Type it into a file named time.txt and placed onto the root of the camera storage, then turn it on the same as you described in your videos."

How To Update Time Automatically

1) Connect the camera to computer via USB cable

2) Download GetSysTime at h ttp :// diganet.net / downloads. htm l

3) Click GetSysTime . exe to update the date and time, after this, the time of the camera will synchronize with the time of computer when you restart it again.

Another solution from Busa0069!
GOT IT!!!
First problem was file.
Just name the text file TAG no .txt, then posted date as follows with an = at end of seconds.

[date]
2010/06/06
14:00:06=

-----------------------
BONG2011: For my MD80 it works with "time.txt" (year.month.day.time.minute.se c) or 2010.08.09.23.30.00 no space

----------------------------
bikermad1962 - Hi Frank. I've used just the TAG and had to play around with the date and time settings. It is now working like this.

Create TAG file
Type:
[date] hit spacebar then enter key
2010/08/13 hit spacebar then enter key
10:36 hit spacebar
Save file

--------------------------------
worex - My method was this:

build a text file called TAG.TXT under root.

[date] need space at the end with newline

yyyy/mm/dd need space at the end with newline

13:28:00 doesn't need space and doesn't need newline at the end of the line.

POWER OFF *AND* POWER ON THE MACHINE AFTER TAG.TXT WAS WRITTEN TO THE CARD!

Time Format in the Video is this:

10/27/2010 01:38:04

mm/dd/yyyy hh : mm : ss

Just got mine today in the mail and have had a B¡tch of a time getting this figured out..
My version uses TIME.txt with just this in the file "yyyy.mm.dd.hh:mm:ss="
Add that one to the list.. :|

savvasrodos

After many-many attempts this method worked to me!
1)The file must named as TIME.TXT
2)In the file, in one line: yyyy.mm.dd hh:mm:ss
ex: 2011.01.04 22:40:00
Only one space between date time
Eliminate the line [date], as I wrote, only one line in the file.

Mine was "time" then yyyy.mm.dd hhmmss (2011.01.11 210030) one space between date and time. Mine came with a mini CD that had an older date like that but I had to be carefull how I saved it. I saved like in Frakes video then had to use the "safely remove hardware" thing then turn it off still plugged in, then unplug it, turn it on. Hope this makes sence to someone.
PS thanks for heading me in the right direction Frank

I am not sure about the camera shown in the video, but some compact cameras do allow you to turn off the time/date display by putting an "N" at the end: "YYYY.MM.DD HH.MM.SS N" in the time.txt. A "Y" turns it on again. Perhaps the TAG.txt would need it to be in a separate line like with the time(if supported, of course):

[DATE]

YYYY/MM/DD

HH:MM:SS

N

Of course, someone may have tried this already, but I thought I would mention it.

Finally got mine to work. Like this no : marks for time. Example like this 2009.01.01 12.01.01 N

  • How about if I do not want any time or date to show? How do I shut this off? Just delete that TAG file?

  • @kyusho1 No way to remove it that I know of.

  • does this camera not work with MAC OSX?

  • @Kyu1LL Yes it should. I just plug it into my MacBook and it shows up on the desktop as a new drive.

  • @FranksTechHelp they didn't ship mine with a micro SD so would it still show up even though there isn't anything in it?

  • @Kyu1LL No, it won't show up unless you have a cad inside the unit.

  • Hey, thanks man! That was easy and concise.

  • press the record button and then conect the usb cable, now you can record and recharg at the same time ;)

  • @kyusho1 I'm attaching to this question, how remove date and tome from video?

  • To reset date on your camera you need to create TIME.txt file.

Type in your date and time in format: 2012.2.23 00:17:00 and save the file on your camera.

  • Thx...It worked perfectly... Had this camera for couple years and never had an idea how to change the date and time. Now it's done!

  • This method worked for me-

I simply went into the TAG folder and copied the exact format of date and time under the existing date and time. After i put in the correct date and time, i clicked the backspace key to earaze the incorrect date and time in the first line above. I then clicked on 'file' and scrolled down to 'save'. Powered off and on a couple of times and took some video, job done.

  • good video but how about doing the same thing for the DVR Mini U8 I have tried everything

    PLEASE HELP

    thank you

  • Tag.txt works for mine but after a power cycle the time is resetting itself

  • @1973eazyme Thank you! TAG.txt wasn't working for mine, but the downloaded file worked perfectly, although it was called updatatime.exe
