do you have the totp show from Saturday 5th September? Because I have some of that show but not complete
-
@MrTillyayre if you mean Modern World by The Jam, it was changed from the album version, as it's a bit sweary - I'll leave it up to everyone to find out, I won't quote the line - but even now the album version definitely isn't suitable for airplay.

The first 5 minutes of this show present the true arrival of the 'new wave' as the new chart mainstream - the charts soundtracked by what is not just a fantastic single but a bold(ish) piece of proto-synthpop by ELO, a true statement of intent from Paul Weller & The Jam - a band who would dominate the show for the next 5 years - and the curtain call of The Carpenters from the UK charts ('out with the old'). By no means a revolution, the UK singles regained a bite at this point in 77

gotta love the ' I dont giva a damn about your view' line
i dont remember that bit

brilliant was the best year for music for me oh to be back there.
-
Even that comedy act has more singing talent than a lot of the acts now.
-
the jam were brilliant raw music london accent not like the fake american accents and fake music too often heard especially now

Wow; what great songs. I remember as a child hearing 'Calling Occupants' and thinking Karen Caprenter was really an alien so I always looking at her with a bit of fear and trepidation. Though when you think of it, her voice really was not of this world, though still not sure whether she was of this planet, (lol)

1977 i'd be 2yrs old back then, it was year that The Proffesionals 1st skidded on to the screen and The Incredible Hulk aired on US tv from this year, the year of the queens silver jubilee

1977 one of my favourite years for music. A great mix of Punk, Pop, Disco and Rock, and not a sign of Simon Cowell or even Schlock, Aching and Watersports on the horizon yet. Good Times!
Amazing looking back to when music was interesting. Every group sounded different, not like today. Bring back the music of the 70's I say.
