This is a photo montage of over 100 childhood stroke survivors with fact pages that was created for Childhood Stroke Awareness 2011. Our children are beautiful and amazing. Most of them endure strict schedules of physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, hippotherapy, etc. and lifelong frequent doctors visits. Some have had major surgeries to their brains to stop seizures, and are on various medications. Most wear orthotics on their legs and/or hands. Some have feeding issues and vision issues. Some have no idea what the future holds in terms of their limitations, BUT one thing is shared amongst all of them and that is their determination to defy the odds, to be strong, to fight for themselves and to do their utmost best to overcome their obstacles in the best way they know how, and that is what makes each and every one of these children a surviving hero. Much love to every childhood stroke survivor out there.

May is National Childhood Stroke Awareness Month. Please support pediatric stroke research. Thank you for viewing. For more information or to donate, please visit www.CHASA.org.
