Lt. Speirs first appears at 1:18. Does anyone know when that footage of him was taken? Early 1950's perhaps?

Thanks for this video. Good description of Joffre: Very much the iron man, with a clear mind and great talent for logistics, while no strategic genius and a complete lack of imagination.
Of course, most "combat scenes" were reenactment for propaganda.
Rearguard actions like this at Le Cateau took place all over the front during the retreat, and efficiently paved the way for the "Marne" victory.
