  • is this video taken near LANTERN WALK IN ROYAL PALM BECH NEAR MADISON GREEN AND THE ACRAGE

  • Yes, this is near there, in the eastern section of Royal Palm Beach near State Road 7 and Belvedere Road.

  • This video was shot to the north and northeast. The first part of the video is of the front of the storm. Later, when I am out in the yard, the back end of the storm comes in. It was much worse, so I had to go inside and got no video of the actual back end of the storm.

It was too dangerous to even open the door.

These homes are mostly wood frame, built in th 1980s before the strict hurricane standards were enacted after Andrew.

  • Hey it was probably my roof.... I am in LaMancha :) One good thing came out of Wilma..... I married my roofer.

  • I've been in thunderstorms this strong, which last at most 10 minutes. This went on for many hours. I couldn't imagine it, the people who inhabit Florida are some very brave people.

  • I think you might be right about the warm waters in the everglades(and lake okeechobee). Wilma didn't lose much if any intensity passing over Fla. Katrina actually strengthened after landfall for a while.

  • @RickR0ll I have a theory that because of how much warm water S.FL has including the everglades Wilma was never really deprived of energy same thing with fay

  • i remember this, we lived in weston when it happened, blew out our screen enclosure

  • This is the one that as cat 5 stationed itself on cancun for a few hours... horrific. You can see the passing over Cancun in Youtube...

  • was this on Sparrow Terrace? Part of my ex-husband's room blew off.

  • I went through this hurricane. Pretty bad. It wasn't the severity of the winds as much as it was the duration. The first half of the hurricane was not damaging much, but the second hit of the eye ripped my fence apart, blew out most screens, and broke my favorite pine tree that I thought was indestructable. I watched it go through storms for 25 years, and it always flexed right back to normal.

  • that stupid bitch ruined my day! >:( xD

  • The storm maintained weak Category 3 status as it crossed the state...Wilma was a strange storm because the opposite side of the storm backbuilded. Usually the back side, while still strong, is nowhere near as fierce as the front. The same thing kind of happened with Tropical Storm Fay in 2008, it was able to maintain strength as it traveled over the peninsula...an unexplained phenomena. I guess somebody will figure out why eventually.

  • i live in royal palm and this storm was very bad the worst hurricane ive been through yet. im only 12 i wasnt alive when andrew went through so i didnt know what it was like. during hurricane wilma i had to stay at my aunt and uncles because we figured that it was going to hit so hard we had to get all of our family together over at my aunt and uncles house.
