This assignment was to create something that would be indicative of its own process. At that time, I was modelling and animating my brains out and my favourite character was this guy here, BURT, a forensic robot from our game Flint & BURT: Astrocity Homicide. I decided to make him rig himself. Like with the last blog post, this was during a very stir crazy, stupidly busy term so there are a TON of things I could have improved on. I had to rig two separate skeletons to get them to move in sync, which sucks when the IKs are being difficult (inverse kinematics, like being able to bring your hand/wrist or your foot/ankle closer to your body and knowing you have your elbow or knee to make up for it by bending in the process).
Anyway, here's the self-rigging BURT.
