In May, we looked back to show you that the Solar Power push didn't just happen in the 21st Century. WDEF did a series of reports in the early 80s on TVA's Solar program, and we wondered what went wrong with the promise?

Now that gas is hitting $4 a gallon nationwide, it's time to talk about Electric Cars.

  • Hmmm... A TransWarp 9" motor, a 15Kwh 144V Li-Ion battery pack, and a Zilla controller, and there might be something to that car. Probably something scarey.

  • I have a red '80 Commuta-Car. Cool little toy now! =) Runs like a top.

  • @FAFdocet au giss!!

  • Do sunspots affect solar electric systems?

  • smart car of the 70's.

  • The reporter was chewing gum the whole time.... he couldn't have cared less.

  • looks like the old bond bug from the mid 70s, except its not orange

  • Well, it's a great learning tool, as you said! Totally funny.

Love the roundy 80's accent on you as well!

  • Yes. That Russ Geller guy was chewing gum the whole time. This has become a great teaching tool for my young reporters. I show this to them and tell them NEVER, EVER do this. Might have been an okay story had I spit out the gum before the interview.
