The folk element of the 60's (which actually began in the 50's, first as a folk revival movement spearheaded by Burl Ives) is kind of a forgotten part of the 60's. People forget that events like Woodstock were primarily folk venues, not "rock concerts". Today's view of the 60's is too often hindsight, not reality. THIS was the reality.

@boliboy2299 For Laleña, I play Am Em Am Em D, G C E7 with the C being the part where I sing Can't blame ya... I did it by ear, and I don't know if it is correct. Hope that works for you.

thanks bobbycole, great postng. I remember seeing this show. There was a musicians strike so the performers had to accompany themselves. Dion deMucci did Abraham, Martin and John, Donovan did his, Jennifer Warnes did one with the vocal group doing a great ompah back-up. And she did one with Donovan. have to get the Smothers Brothers show DVDs if this is on it.

I saw Donovan this same year at the Seattle Opera House. First part of the concert was electric....then after intermission he came out and sat on a big pillow and sang without microphones. Probably 3000 people and you could have heard a pin drop as he sang Lalena. Great video! Thanks for posting!

Thank you! I was hoping this set had survived into the video age. As i recall there was on more piece - a poem by Yeats that ended with a whistle version of "Can't Buy Me Love".

Yes I recorded the entire series when it aired back in 1992. There might be some extras on the DVD. So I may have to get it.
Thanks
