This is a build log of a Network Attached Storage build that I did for myself. I used the Lian Li PC-Q25 because of its small form factor and also because it has 5 hot swap bays. I have only installed 7TB of HDD capacity so far, but I plan on adding a lot more as time goes on, because the case fits up to 8 HDD's. In this video I have a good look at each of the components. I also show the build process and performance and temperature results at the end.

  • Why would you need SATA3 cables for WD Green?

  • @stevenhasanuddin I'm going to put a spare SSD in there in the future which I forgot to mention. Also I will be putting a couple of WD blacks in. The other thing is that I only use SATA 3 cables these days. I build systems for a living so I have a whole collection of parts ready to go. I don't even bother with SATA 2 cables anymore.

  • Hey Singularity in your description, you put 7 GB of HDD space. Just letting you know that it's 7 TB.

  • @Rrsurfs Typo lol.

  • the fractal design define mini is a way better choice: its small, has good drive space, many options for cooling, cable management options, and is realy quite which is ideal for a nas server runing 24/7

  • @SingularityComputers: Is there any possibility to mount fan on the bottom of the case? I'm building build machine and NAS so I do not need place for graphics card. For me it seems like a perfect place for some factory-closed water cooling module.

  • Your build logs are awesome, I just wish you would include an additional "how to use" type video after the build log. This is kind of like your HTPC build log. I loved those as well, but what do you do after its built? I mean, what's the next step to make it actually work? Regardless, great job.

  • a good sata2 can be be used for a sata3 device!

  • Hi,

Did you mention somewhere that you were gonna do a NAS build using the Compucase 8K01?

  • Congratulations on the partnership man! You definitely deserve it for all the effort you put into your videos. Awesome NAS Build by the way. I picked some of the components from here for my NAS Build as well.

  • @Venoml0rdz haha :P

  • @Rrsurfs lol 7 GB is plenty XD

  • grate video
