The Honor Of Her Evening was made for Community Access To The Arts as a tribute to Marisa Yudkin, a dancer with Huntington's Disease.
In 2001, with her physical abilities diminishing rapidly from the disease, she joined choreographer and fellow dancer Dawn Lane to create a growing body of work, over a six year period. They performed at live venues in the Berkshires of Massachusetts (including Jacob's Pillow). Their work is the subject of the documentary "Too Much To Stop" by director John Whalan
Music: Alexandra Leaving by Leonard Cohen

  • Still (always) missing 'Risa and thankful for this link! thanks, John! Sheila

  • A very touching tribute to a person I recognize from the time I lived in New York City. Well done video, with good dissolves, music in the right rhythm and mood.

  • This is a fabulous tribute to Marisa - her

gusto, will, love of dance, beauty and even her hats! Thanks for helping to ease the pain of missing her.

  • Thank you for this gentle, beautiful reminder of a connection to a beautiful soul. Marisa was a participant in my Dance New England community for many years. I am sorry that she was unable to attend the last two years, since we still rent space in Poland Springs that is inaccessible to someone who is wheelchair-bound. I hope this changes, in the coming year, as we look for new camp space.

  • John, Thank you for posting this and reminding us of the beauty that is Marisa!

  • Beautiful! Marissa is the essence of courage, the joy of life and an inspiration to all who knew her. Her spirit and determination awed me. It was an honor to know of her friendship with Dawn and her commitment to her Art. It was my pleasure to see their last performance and to have been touched by her joy. The music here is a fine representation of Maris' life and legacy. Thank you, John, for bringing Maris to us.
