Amtrak's specially-painted P42DC number 145 was on hand for the National Train Day celebrations at Tampa, Florida's Union Station on Saturday, May 7th, 2011. She idled away under the sun for most of the day, being rather photogenic in her shiny Phase III paint, and making many a railfan (and railfan-to-be!) smile. Happy 40th anniversary, Amtrak! Thanks for being America's Passenger Railroad. :)

  • Why is this engine so special? I don't get it.

  • This is one of several engines running around right now that Amtrak has painted into a special paint scheme commemorating their 40th anniversary. There are a few different special schemes, each from a different period in Amtrak's history. :3

  • @SpeakerPolice Oh, that's super exciting. I saw a big blue one with CSX go by the other day, it was cool.
